Apple has officially released the public beta preview of iOS 26, its upcoming iPhone operating system update, offering early access to one of the most transformative redesigns the company has made in more than a decade. The update, first introduced during Apple’s WWDC 2025, is now available to all users with compatible iPhones through Apple’s beta software program.
The final version of iOS 26 will roll out broadly in fall 2025, alongside the launch of the next iPhone hardware lineup.
Users in the U.S. and other supported regions can test the beta by enrolling via Apple’s official Beta Software Program. Once registered, users simply navigate to:
Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and select iOS 26.
Participation in the beta helps Apple identify bugs and optimize features before the full release later this year.
iOS 26 brings the most substantial interface redesign since the debut of iOS 7 in 2013, when Apple replaced skeuomorphic icons with a flatter, minimalist design. The new design language — dubbed “Liquid Glass” — transforms the iPhone’s visual experience:
Apple is actively gathering user feedback during the public beta to refine and adjust the Liquid Glass interface before launch.
While the much-anticipated Siri overhaul powered by generative AI is not included in iOS 26 — and isn’t expected until 2026 — Apple has introduced several AI-driven features aimed at enhancing productivity and daily communication:
These updates aim to boost the iPhone’s daily usability while gradually ushering in the future of AI-powered personalization.
Despite promises in 2024 that Siri would be completely reimagined using Apple’s in-house large language models, those enhancements won’t arrive until at least early 2026, according to internal timelines and reports. For now, users can expect incremental updates to voice functions while Apple refines its AI stack.
Apple’s software rollout follows a familiar annual rhythm:
iOS 26 is expected to be pre-installed on the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup and will be available to millions of current devices via over-the-air update. Most iPhones from iPhone 12 and later will be eligible to receive the update.
With iOS 26, Apple is not just giving the iPhone a fresh coat of paint — it’s laying the foundation for a future centered on AI, cross-device harmony, and user empowerment. While some marquee features like Siri's AI reboot are still on the horizon, the Liquid Glass interface and practical enhancements already position iOS 26 as Apple’s boldest step forward in years.
As Apple continues to compete in a fast-evolving tech landscape, iOS 26 signals that the company isn’t just focused on hardware — it’s doubling down on the software experiences that define its ecosystem.
